OUR GOALS

We set up to tackle food poverty in the local community. We support low-income families and struggling households across East Dorset and surrounding areas, to gain easy access to good quality and healthy food. Our products are ethically sources and most of our products would otherwise be deemed as surplus to existing organisations and business. Per 50 members, 9.1 tonnes of good quality food will be diverted to struggling households and saved from landfill every year.

Family Shopping Together

COMMUNITY SUPPORT

  • To support low-income families and households in West Moors and surrounding areas to gain easy access to good quality and healthy food. In so doing reduce health inequalities and obesity.

  • To support the community to reduce the effects of low income and poverty through paying a fixed membership price rather than pay for individual items which will reduce the cost of their usual weekly shop.

  • To provide people with a dignified way of accessing food at reduced costs without the need of a professional referral or having to accept low quality produce.

  • Generate increased community interaction, build friendships and help combat loneliness and isolation.

Landfill Management

ENVIROMENTAL IMPACT

  • Use ethical food sources, reduce local business waste, food redistribution charities and companies, also tackle issues of surplus and environmental damage.

  • Food waste harms the environment – it wastes the energy, fuel and water that went into producing it and, if not recycled or treated correctly, can produce methane, a damaging greenhouse gas.

  • Recycling food helps fight climate change and makes savings for local councils which can be redirected to essential public services.
